Cumulus Up was the next step for the famously coveted Cumulus Inc, and as its name lives up (stairs) to.
A darker affair; intimate space, warm timbers, darkened walls and ceilings. The lighting design approach was to bring some colour and theatre to the establishment. Coloured glass pendants, red and smoky hues, are scattered over the dining area. The red of the pendants accentuating the red paint of some of the chair frames. Light glows strongly from behind the geometric shaped mirrors hanging on the charcoal wall above the banquette. Spot lighting from the ceiling brings additional lighting to the space and creates sparkle to the table ware, and highlights artifacts and glassware on shelving and at waiters stations.
Illumination from the kitchen filters through the corrugated glass shelving units which modestly screens the kitchen from the dining areas.
Within the bar service area, the meat cutter, wine and spirit bottles are brought to life in light and shadow providing theatre and interest to the depths of the restaurant.
The lighting design is in harmony with the interior generating great ambience and interest within the space; blending into the interior with strength and poise.
